Anonymous asked: I really hope there will be second season of YOI, because I'm so in love with Viktor's skating. I mean, that quad toe triple toe combo in Stay Close to Me is everything. My wet dreams have wet dreams when I watch that combo. He's so gorgeous when he skates, I just can't wait.

OH MY GOODNESS, RIGHT!!!!

i fell in love with his skating on the first episode and i spent the rest of the season in the hopes of seeing more of it, you have no idea how happy i was when he confirmed he would be back on the ice aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

tbh his quad flip game got nothing on his 4toe-3toe that is a true masterpiece I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH OF WATCHING IT

seriously, people keep saying that Yuuri has more stamina than Victor and yes he does but they blow the whole thing out of porpotion.

Victor did this combination a few seconds before the end of the FS with more ease than me getting out of bed in the morning after 12 hours of sleep.

I want to see him on the ice so much, past routines, new routines, his costumes, the songs…

We should make a “skating god Victor” club tbh

exactly!!

i’ve been studying his program this evening and it’s just INSANE. that man is literally a skating legend?? it’s not even funny it’s just plain ridiculous how extra his jumps are. CAN YOU IMAGINE:

- he starts off with a QUAD LUTZ. he doesn’t flop it. it’s a perfect quad lutz.

- he follows it with his signature move, a quad flip, that wasn’t even a thing irl until 2016??? a quad…flip

- then i’m pretty sure he does a triple axel, but the scene changes to yuuri.

- as if that’s not enough, he does a fucking quad salchow???? not a particularly difficult jump but the number of rotations is insane not to mention that’s almost in the middle of his program???

- oh yeah he just does a combo 3 axel and maybe 3 salchow somewhere in there but the camera angles are weird i can’t tell if it’s a salchow tbh but it looks like it

- no big deal just throw in a triple lutz for good measure. he’s not even that tired yet.

- oh? let’s show how fucking EXTRA I AM DOING A TRIPLE FLIP AND SHOW THE WORLD THAT’S HOW IT’S DONE

- then of course viktor has do be extra and throw a quad in a combo for his last jump and nails it perfectly, the amazing quad toe triple toe. NO BIGGIE

(and i’m not getting into the spins because i’m only focusing on his jumps for now)

HE HAS MASTERED QUADS IN AT LEAST 4/6* JUMPS IN FIGURE SKATING WHAT THE FUCK VIKTOR NIKIFOROV

*(djklasjfldsf thank you @marvellousstarlight for pointing out we don’t get to see a quad loop from viktor)

PLUS FOR THE QUAD LUTZ YOU BASICALLY NEED A LONG PREPARATIONS AND HE DOES NONE OF IT, WITHOUT THE SPEED THAT’S USUALLY NEEDED FOR THAT JUMP AND IT’S ALMOST OUT OF THE CHOREOGRAPHIC SEQUENCE

and he has 4 of the 5 quads included in his routine and perfectly executed and a 3 jump combination

and since the quad flip is his signature move he was obviously the first one who did it and he probably did it very early in his career even while he was in the junior division, like remember when he said Yakov used to get angry with him for doing quads out of nowhere…

another plus, is that Victor obviously has a tendency to just stop skating during his routines which adds to the difficulty of the program since the skater loses all speed and momentum they already had (you can see it in Stammi Vicino but if you watch the video of Kenji-Miyamoto it’s clear in eros too)

let’s talk about how extra skating god Victor Nikiforov is, I’ve found my people <3

IT’S INSANE. viktor knows 0 chill. i love how people were like “oh viktor’s too old to come back to competition” like bitch no that man is made of fucking steel??? ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE SAME VIKTOR NIKIFOROV?? THE ONE WHO PULLS QUADS OUT OF HIS ASS AS IF IT WAS NOTHING???

of course yeah he might have been a little out of shape because of his break to coach yuuri but overall i think it’s pretty safe to say viktor is still in his prime

Yes! and tbh 27 isn’t that old for figure skating from what I hear. Figure skaters in their early thirties have been competing. Do we really need to assume that a few months of not competing was enough to put him completely out of shape after he spent 20 years concentrating only on skating? Victor is too OP for that :P

adam rippon is 27 and he’s probably not retiring anytime soon? like i get that 80% of the competitive skaters irl are like 16-20 y/o and many competitive skaters really retire early but they don’t actually stop skating? i get that competing is pretty hardcore (i was talking to my friend about their diets and exercise routines and in my opinion that’s the most exhausting aspect of being a competitive figure skater) but they carry on skating, just look at johnny weir and stephane lambiel who are pretty active in the artistic events of figure skating (or whatever you call those tbh)

so yeah…… sorry hater but viktor coming back to competition is still completely logical.
