I haven’t been able to vent my thoughts on this scene, so just for a little…
Yuuri first starts to change his jumps. Of course Victor notices.
And he immediately gets what the other boy is trying to do.
Seconds later we get a confirmation, Yuuri’s trying to
level up the the jumps in his routine, so they can match with the
difficulty Victor had to face in his own routine.
And he keeps changing it.
That’s when Yuuri’s inner dialogue starts, and it’s not just his own thoughts on the matter, but he’s directing it to Victor.
He doesn’t want for it to end.
Not now, not ever. He wants to keep doing what he loves most, beside the man he’s come to love just as much.
But if that means Victor will have to give up the ice then Yuuri will not doubt to let him go. Letting go of the things you hold dear…
THAT’S WHAT THIS BOY IS TRYING TO SAY WITH HIS FINAL
ROUTINE. He wants Victor to understand how much is that he loves
skating, but he’s willing to let that go for the skae of the man he loves. Seeing Victor on the ice, skating by his side, he knows he can’t have it all, so he’s come to his final decision.
What I adore from this scene is the fact that Victor gets that without the need of words.
And
we can see Yuuri’s face moments before going to the rink, and at first I
thought, why the smile? But now I get it, he knows for who he’s skating,
he knows why he is doing it, and he’s satisfied with it.
“This is for you.”
It was said Yuuri wanted to use this program to express the different forms of love he feels. And this is definitely one of them.
