if you count backwards from 27, viktor’s five-time gpf & worlds winning streak began when he was 23
aka when he was yuuri’s age
no wonder he was so pissed when yuuri talked about retiring yuuri is in his prime
anyway what i’m saying is that it’s very plausible that we might get five-time world champion katsuki yuuri, japan’s living legend
Yuuri is actually one year older than Victor was when he started his winning streak, but it is— just one year! Victor had been around and had been doing extremely well in competition (I believe it’s implied he won his first Europeans at seventeen?) for years, but yes, he didn’t start his big winning streak until he was right about to turn twenty-three years old (that GPF win would have been a couple of weeks before his twenty-third bday), whereas Yuuri just turned twenty-four. We see Victor as a teen and know that Yuuri has been idolizing him since his junior years, so it’s easy to forget that he, while he’s been near the top at his sport forever, didn’t consistently hold the top spot until he reached almost his mid-twenties.
Yuuri is four years younger than Victor, and while yes, he would be a bit of a senior in his sport, winning a world title at twenty-eight if he wanted to reach that five time world champion goal, he could do it. Victor’s done it with finesse, and Yuuri’s actually in really great shape. He’s had no major injuries in his career, after all, and he works harder than anyone else. Keep it up Yuuri.
